2016 4Runner SR5 Premium 5 stars *****
By Max242 | on Saturday, January 28, 2017
This is a highly under rated vehicle. We love it. We owned a 2004 4Runner prior to purchasing this. The reliability on the 4Runners (at least for us) has been great. Vehicle is on a truck frame so the ride is little different than a crossover but it is not an issue to us at all. We love that the rear window goes up and down. Controls are easy. The one thing, the 4WD selector is in a weird place, right next to the front cup holder. I think a better place would have been next to heat controls, more out of the way. Head room with sun roof is a about 1" less than our older model, but so far not an issue. Backup camera is nice to have. Engine has plenty of power. We have noticed the mileage is 1-2 MPG lower than our old model and whats rated but we live in a very cold climate and maybe it needs to be broke in also. We are seeing 19 MPG HWY & 16-17 average. Not sure we will monitor and see what changes come summer. Seats are comfortable, ride for us is quiet. View area is clear, A-pillars are not overly obstructive.… - 5.0
Ab Fab! Love it!

Had a Grand Cherokee (Limited) and several recalls with so/so reviews later I decided to try the 4Runner. Love it! Fits like a glove, I'm only 5'5" so that's really important to me. Can see out of it easily with great visibility. No worries about reliability or excess tech going wonky. Smooth on paved roads and amazing on trails and off road. Yes it's not as "smooth" as a crossover but it is not based on a car platform. It has more than enough power and the engine isn't taxed like most 4 cylinders either. It will hold it's value better than any of them as well. All and all totally satisfied with the TRD Off Road 4Runner!… - 5.0
Death and Taxes

For 22 years and 503k miles I kept my first ever car purchase. A 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ and when I donated her while still running like a Swiss watch I was devastated. I knew nothing made today would be as tough or have an engine that would be as dependable and my mechanic friend said the closet vehicle I'd be able to replicate that dinosaur technology unchanged solid Ness minus the tape deck and cigarette lighter which was cool but never used was in fact the 4runner. So I went to the dealership brought home my 5th generation 4runner and I've gotta say I can't find anything other than it's not my old XJ it's perfect. Absolutely solid built inside and out tons of cargo room with just over 100k miles now there's been zero issues from 30 below zero wind chills to heat index of upwards of 110 and humid it's flawless. I see now why Toyota never changed a thing in all those model years. I tried the Tahoe which is grossly overpriced garbage with not even a third of the build quality the Ford Expedition and a few others just lack the rugged utility I need. So if your looking for an apocalyptic ready vehicle with all the amenities most like there's no other choices out there today really. Anybody who complains really in my opinion didn't understand what they were buying. You can't go wrong with the 4runner even if you tried.…
